KitebillLocal-first invoice app
"Local-first" means your invoices are primarily stored on your device, and the network is optional. It is related to offline apps, but the emphasis is on ownership of the data, not only airplane-mode support.

- Create or duplicate invoices during the week (works offline).
- When online, send PDFs from your email client.
- Mark Paid and enter fees/FX when money arrives.
- Export a backup every Friday from Settings.

What you must do yourself
- Export backups (Settings → Export) and keep the JSON somewhere safe.

Service workers and updates
After the first visit, Kitebill caches its shell so it opens offline. When you are online again, the browser checks for a newer version. Your invoice data is separate from that cache: updating the app does not wipe localStorage, but clearing site data does.
When to choose a desktop local app instead
If you need German e-invoice formats (ZUGFeRD/XRechnung), heavy custom HTML templates, or multiple company "spaces" in a native app, look at Cakedesk. Choose Kitebill when you want the same local-first idea with zero install and a browser URL you can open on any machine you use.

Questions
Is local-first only for developers?
No. If you can use a website, you can use Kitebill. There is nothing to host or configure.
Does local-first mean my data never leaves the device?
The app does not upload invoices. PDFs you email or files you export leave under your control.
How is this different from a spreadsheet?
You get statuses, overdue views, multi-currency totals, bilingual print labels and a printable invoice layout without building it yourself.
