If you work from Pakistan for clients in the US, UK, EU or the Gulf, your invoice has one job: get paid fully and quickly. Here is what to include, and how to see what actually reaches your account after fees.
Checklist: what to put on the invoice
- Your name or business name, city and country, and an email address the client already knows.
- A sequential invoice number (INV-0001, INV-0002…). Clients' accounts teams need it for reconciliation.
- Issue date and due date. "Net 14" or "Net 30" is normal for overseas clients. Agree it upfront.
- The client's legal name and address, especially for companies. Their finance team may reject an invoice without them.
- Line items in the client's language, with quantity and rate (hours × rate, or a fixed-price milestone).
- The currency you agreed. Usually USD, GBP or EUR for overseas work, PKR for local clients.
- Exact payment instructions. See below.
- Tax ID, if you have one (e.g. NTN), when a client or your accountant asks for it. This guide is not tax advice. Ask a qualified adviser about your own situation.
Payment details that avoid delays
- Bank transfer (IBAN). Pakistani IBANs are 24 characters and start with
PK, followed by 2 check digits, a 4-letter bank code and a 16-digit account number (iban.pk, SWIFT registry entry). Also give the account title exactly as the bank has it, the bank name and the SWIFT/BIC code for international wires. - Payoneer, Wise or PayPal. List the exact email or link the client should use, and which one you prefer.
- Say who pays the fees. For wires, a line like "Please send as OUR (sender pays charges)" can stop intermediary fees being deducted from your amount, if the client agrees.
Invoice total ≠ money received
A USD 1,000 invoice rarely becomes the equivalent of USD 1,000 in PKR. Marketplace commission, withdrawal fees and the exchange rate you actually got all take a cut. The Kitebill app lets you record, per invoice:

Questions
Should I invoice overseas clients in USD or PKR?
Usually in the currency you agreed, most often USD, GBP or EUR. That way the client pays a fixed amount and you handle conversion. Kitebill records the exchange rate you actually got, so your totals appear in PKR (or any base currency).
Do I need an NTN on my invoice?
It depends on your situation and your client's requirements. Many freelancers add it if they have one. Check with a qualified tax adviser, because this guide is not tax advice.
Can I include both IBAN and Payoneer details?
